GEL: eSuba Shock Past TCM-Gaming

Although you would always expect eSuba to give the TOP 2 seeds a run for their money, given their history and recent online play, you would never actually expect them to see them take TCM-Gaming's number. And that's exactly what the Czech team did, against all odds.

TCM-Gaming had just come up against an easy win versus another mid seeded team, Team-pr0perty, and were generally having fun during that game. These smiles and quirky motions quickly turned to grins and sighs when they saw what eSuba were putting up.

Right from the start, it was nothing but high-paced action with Daniel finte Vavrouch and Michal trunk Broušek opening up round one. I was surprised to see that happen, but when TCM-Gaming pulled a clean A bomb plant the following round, I just chalked it up to the experienced team not being mentally 'in-game' yet.

My analyses had to be constantly revised and corrected, because eSuba were the ones who'd not let go. How much I'd like to point out a single name and say "yes, that guy! He's doing awesome and no one can really stop him", yet it wasn't anything like that. Whenever I saw both Lukáš trume Lát and trunk take the SMG and push forward, they'd often split four guys evenly between them and decide rounds on their own.

Yet, not much later, you'd have Michal MISAK Valušek using his AK47 well, sticking to a spot and just being more on the ball than the opposition. Maybe you could class finte and František SexAxZ Henyš as having played 'badly', but only because there usually were no more opponents left for them to show their abilities.

Likewise, TCM-Gaming did not have complete and utter failures on their side either, but just a general unreadiness to deal with eSuba. On attack, they kept pushing the A bomb and only half of the time saw their efforts paid off, whilst eSuba went for the same strategies, but tried to concentrate on mid a lot more.

This minute detail definitely gave eSuba more leniency when attacking the bomb and from the second half onwards, TCM-Gaming, as a whole, seemed unable to move past the eSuba SMGs in particular. This lead to quite a bit of vocal frustration on the team comms, yet they opted not using a time-out to discuss what was going wrong. Was this just being arrogant or did they feel this game did not matter as much as the others, given the double elimination bracket tomorrow?

eSuba, regardless of what motivation TCM-Gaming had, deserved that win and are looking comfortable for the Playoffs. It will be a game that hopefully wakes TCM-Gaming up, showing they cannot take these mid seeded teams as lightly as they perhaps want to.

That's a surprise.

Hopefully TCM can bring it back from now on.
